Larry is a Los Angeles based, licensed psychotherapist,
with a PhD in clinical psychology. His specialty is working with
adults traumatized as children. He integrates Somatic Experiencing,
EMDR and relational psychotherapy. Larry has over twenty-five
years experience with indivduals and couples, developing an innovative
process working with couples using Somatic Experiencing. Larry
has a passion for teaching, training and mentoring interns and
professionals integrating body, mind and neurobiology in their
work with others. He is an AAMFT approved supervisor, training
interns at the Hollywood YMCA Counseling Center and has served
as an adjunct faculty member at Antioch University, Los Angeles
and Ryokan College where he has taught alternative methods of
healing as well as neurobiological and developmental psychology.
Dr. Shaw has been featured in national and local
newspapers and television, such as Vanity Fair, The Los Angeles
Times, Cable Health News and The NBC nightly news. Larry enjoys
giving his time as a disaster mental health worker responding
to local and national disasters with various volunteer organizations.
He has been an avid surfer for 45 years, as well as a practicing
Buddhist since his early 20's. Larry has recently discovered the
physical and emotional benefits of his own yoga practice.
